The Commander and members of the Camp took part in ceremonies celebrating the birthdays of Generals Lee and Jackson.
The major event in Lexington, VA started at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery and then proceeded to the Lee Chapel, which is on the campus of Washington and Lee University. John Care was the only Division Commander present at the event and did a great job representing our State.
The following day, the second ceremony attended took place at the State House in Richmond, Va. A wreath was laid at the statue of Robert E. Lee in that building. While in the area, the contingent toured the Petersburg Battlefield and the Jackson Shrine.
The trip was a great success, a wonderful showing of the level of support found in this State and a source of information about a few great little places around Petersburg we all should visit. The highlight 'find' of the trip was a former church that has 13 stained glass windows made by Tiffany of NY, one for each state. The windows were reported to be remarkable, particularly one depicting a Battle Flag. The church is located not far from the Crater and is owned by the local government.
